Boston’s Only Community- and Worker-Owned Food Co-op

Now open daily 8am-8pm!

The mission of Dorchester Food Co-op is to challenge the traditional food system by building a community and worker-owned asset that nourishes, employs, and reinvests in the local community.

We are thrilled to announce that Dorchester Food Coop has just received a ten-year grant from Cummings Foundation! The Food Coop is one of 150 local organizations that have received grants totaling $30 Million from Cummings Foundation annual grant program. This funding for the Co-op over ten years will bring just the kind of stability needed to ensure long term impacts and significant improvements in people’s lives.
Cummings Foundation, you are a valued partner! We thank you for working with the Dorchester Food Co-op
to build community power and wealth through cooperative ownership.

Why a Food Co-op?

Boosts Local Economy

A food co-op is a grocery store owned and controlled by the community—anyone may become a member. Our co-op will operate for the mutual benefit of all members, returning profits to the community through programming, discounts, and lower costs.

Increases Access to Healthy Food

By joining together, co-op members gain access to products, services or markets not otherwise available to them. Our co-op values equality among member-owners, enrichment of the community, and support of local sustainable products.

Fosters Active Community

Healthy food is just one part of the equation. Our co-op i an active hub where community members can gather to share, learn, and explore together.

We are excited to announce that Dorchester Food Co-op is a ten-year grant winner awarded
by Cummings Foundation 2024 grants program!
